Three high-level artists adapt and revisit works that do not belong to them. Every time, they produce a real creative piece… The Mysteries of Art…
Daringly based on audio cassettes from the period, the performance by Rayess Bek, a major Lebanese artist, reveals the multiple manipulation of the filming of “Good Bye Schlöndorff” in the middle of the war in Lebanon. It is not insignificant that this performance is taking place in (and with) the Auditorium of the MuCEM (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations), a major centre of Mediterranean heritage.
Later, in Hôpital Caroline, the talented director Franck Dimech revives our childhood laughter with his corrosive reinterpretation of the Shadoks (an animated French TV series), of which MIMI will be Act I. In this preliminary musical version of the war between the Shadoks and the Gibis, we can also see a parable of the menacing Clash of Civilisations.
Lastly, the outstanding Noël Akchoté wrong-foots the whole little world of improvisers with a demanding interpretation (on electric guitars!) of some of the finest Mediterranean works of the Renaissance: the Madrigals of Carlo Gesualdo.
